Weeping tile

1. The perforated pipe is placed in a trench around the home's foundation, sometimes inside along the basement floor and other times outside near the footing. 

    
2. 2. Collection:

   Groundwater rises and flows through the weep holes or slits in the pipe. 

    
3. 3. Filtration:

   A surrounding layer of gravel acts as a filter, stabilizing the pipe and allowing water to flow into it while preventing soil from clogging the holes. 

    
4. 4. Diversion:

   The collected water then flows through the pipe, following its slight incline, and is directed away from the home. 

    
5. 5. Discharge:

   The water is sent to a sump pump, a dry well, or another suitable point to be discharged safely away from the property.

  Keeps basements dry by removing groundwater before it can seep in.

  Helps prevent soil from becoming waterlogged and eroding around the foundation.
